Nadejda Cudobetchi. CahulActiv - a new platform for the most active residents of Cahul

The interview with Nadejda Cudobetchi, the coordinator of the CahulActiv project, manager of tourism and digitization. The Heading: STARTUP CITY CAHUL with the support of ATIC.

#INTERVIEW

Nadejda, good day! Congratulations on the successful launch of the CahulActiv platform. I understand that you have been working on this project for at least half a year, as in the previous interview this spring, you mentioned the start of work on the website. When did CahulActiv officially launch?

Good day! We chose the Feast of Cahul's Patron Saint, November 21, as the launch date. The project preparation took almost a year, considering not only the technical aspects we started working on this spring but also all the stages from submitting the project application to its approval. The project's implementation became possible thanks to the financial support from the Cahul Municipality and the Digital Impact program.

Were you able to realize all the ideas planned for the CahulActiv project?

As we worked on the project, it turned out to be even more extensive and interesting than we initially thought. The only discrepancy between expectations and reality was the timeline for completing some tasks, so the official launch date was shifted.

What can currently be found on the cahulactiv.md website?

On the website, you can explore offers from various extracurricular activities for children and teenagers, find necessary information about various sections, institutions, sign up for activities, and learn about events taking place in Cahul. You can also read news related to culture, sports, and education. We've added a feature for booking venues, such as conference halls or other facilities.

We worked diligently on the technical side to ensure that parents or teenagers can easily and quickly find the information they need. For example, if you're looking for a sports activity for your child, on the homepage, you choose the type of activity (sports), then the type of club, for instance, folk dances, then the institution where the activities take place. After specifying your child's age, you can choose between paid or free clubs, language of instruction, and then proceed to registration. You can also view a photo gallery and a short video about the chosen club or institution where the activities will take place. All parents can leave reviews on the site, and we are pleased to see that some activities have already received feedback.

How many institutions, sections, and clubs are already featured on the website?

We have brought together 43 different extracuricullar activity clubs and seven municipal institutions.

As I understand it, this site is intended to be a tool for communication between the residents of Cahul and the leaders of institutions and various extracuricullar activity clubs...

Yes, citizen engagement alone is not enough for the website to be functional. It is essential to organize and coordinate the efforts of all the  and institutions. Each institution has its "personal cabinet" on the website, where applications from all the parents are visible, and there is also the option to add news about their extracuricullar activity club, showcasing achievements and successes. Currently, we are working on providing training for older leaders and instructors to ensure they can easily navigate our platform.

The site has been operational for just over a week, and it's too early to judge comprehensive statistics, but I'm sure you have already noticed what interests users the most...

To begin with, we were pleasantly surprised that in the first few days of cahulactiv.md's launch, more than 600 people visited our site. This is a very good indicator for a small town like Cahul, considering that we did not invest in advertising or other promotions.

Most local extracurricular activitys courses start in September, and it's currently impossible to enroll in them, so we have only a few activities that accept children year-round. In the first three days of the website's operation, we received about 10 applications for these clubs—boxing, judo, sambo, and crafts.

Surely, you are not only monitoring feedback on the site but also personally know the parents' reviews about the site. What was the initial reaction of the townspeople when you launched the site?

The almost universal first reaction was, "Wow! Do we have all of this in Cahul?" One of the main goals of the project was to show our people from Cahul that we also have activities for children and interesting events, and I hope we have succeeded in doing that.

Another feedback after the launch was calls from leaders of various private sections and clubs who also wanted to be featured on the site. We will definitely start collaborating with them, most likely in the early new year.

We also received positive reactions from the leaders of these activities who saw the beautiful outcome and were very inspired by the new experience.

How will cahulactiv.md develop in the near future?

We will add a few more clubs and sections, take photos and videos for them. In December, we will launch an informational campaign where we will visit educational institutions and inform children, teachers, and parents about the opportunities the site offers. Mentoring and training for activity and institution leaders are also starting, during which they will learn how to manage their "personal cabinet" and add news and any other important information to the site.
